The government decided Tuesday to allow conscientious objectors 
against mandatory military service to conduct alternative services 
such as caring for the disabled, instead of imprisoning them.
The alternate service term will be 36 months compared to the 24 months 
of military service, which will be shortened to 18 months in 2014. 

정부는 화요일 양심 병역거부자들이 의무 군복무를 하지않아도 구금이 
되지 않고, 장애인을 돌보는, 등의 대체복무를 할 수 있다는 결정을 
내렸습니다. 현역복무는 현재 24개월, 2014년에 18개월로 줄여질 예정이며, 
대체복무 기간은 36개월이 될 것입니다.

Some 600 people in Peru have required treatment after an object 
from space - said to be a meteorite - plummeted to Earth in a remote 
area, officials say. They say the object left a deep crater after crashing 
down over the weekend near the town of Carancas in the Andes. 

페루의 약 600명의 주민들이 오지에 떨어진 운석 때문에 병원치료를 
필요로 하고 있다고 관련자들이 밝혔습니다. 지난 주말, 안데스의 
카랑카스 근처에 떨어진 운석은 땅에 깊은 구멍을 만들었다고 합니다.

사람이 많은 밤거리를 지나가다 보면 호객꾼들을 자주 접하게 된다. 
When passing by busy streets at night, we often come across 
people who solicit customers.

홍보 전단지나 나눠주면 괜찮을 텐데 속칭 '삐끼'라고 불리는 이들 
호객꾼들은 그 정도에서 그치지 않는다. 
There’s nothing wrong with handing out fliers, but these 
people who are called “PPi-KKies” in a slangish way in Korea do
not stop there. 

우선 이들이 행인들에게 사용하는 호칭이 불쾌할 때도 있다. 
First of all, the way they address pedestrians is sometimes annoying.

가끔 여성 행인들을 '언니' 또는 '누나', 남성 행인들은 '형' 혹은 
'오빠'라고 부르기도 한다. 
They use words Koreans would use to address their elder siblings 
or close seniors such as 언니, 누나, 형, or 오빠.

또한 그들 가운데는 다가와 어깨동무를 하는 이들도 있는데 이러한 경우 
당황스럽기도 한다. 
Even worse, some even put their arms around people’s shoulders, 
which is startles people at times.

쾌적한 밤거리 조성을 위해 관계당국은 지나친 호객행위를 단속해 
주었으면 좋겠다. 
Related authorities should crack down on excessive street solicitation 
in order to make our night streets more pleasant and pedestrian-friendly.

Often when people see bad things coming or avoid disaster 
because of their alertness they say, 
"I can read the handwriting on the wall". (나쁜 일이 일어날 것 같애.)

This is from the Bible, in Dan 5:5-30. The king of Babylon had 
seen a hand without a body write a series of words on the wall 
that none of his wise men could decipher.

They called upon the Jewish prophet Daniel, who informed them 
that the writing was God's prophesy that the Babylonian kingdom 
would be overthrown; that night, the Medo-Persian Empire 
attacked Babylon. Therefore, the ability to "read the handwriting 
on the wall" is the ability to see bad things coming down the road.
