* EGG News *
 The government said yesterday that Korea's home-grown alternative
 to English proficiency tests like TOEFL and TOEIC could take over
 the English language part of the CSAT as of 2016. 

 The National English Ability Test- which goes by the acronym NEAT-
 will first be run as a pilot project, and the final call will be made in
 2012. 

 There are also plans to permit universities to unofficially use NEAT scores as 
 a barometer of students' English proficiency in 2013.

 정부는 2016학년도 대학수학능력시험부터 외국어영역을 
 '한국형 토익·토플'인 국가영어능력평가시험으로 대체하는 내용의 
 시행 방안을 어제 발표했습니다.

 방안에 따르면 국가영어능력평가시험을 먼저 시범 시행한 뒤, 
 2012년에 수능 대체 여부를 최종 확정할 방침입니다.

 정부는 또 2013학년도 대입 수시모집부터는 국가영어능력평가시험 성적을 
 대학들이 참고자료로 활용토록 할 계획입니다.
