* News *        

South Korea got hit by Typhoon Kompasu early this morning, and although the country 
wasn't gutted, the storm certainly packed a punch. 

Many areas of metro Seoul were brought to a standstill, as blackouts resulted in 
some subway line shutdowns- especially in sections above ground. 

There was no escaping the transportation pandemonium for drivers, either, as tree 
branches and other debris were strewn across roads.

오늘 새벽 태풍 ‘곤파스’가 우리나라를 강타했습니다. 나라를 파괴할 정도로 처참하진 
않았지만 태풍 곤파스의 위력은 강력했습니다.

서울 지하철의 많은 노선이 운행 중단되었는데요, 특히 전기 공급이 중단되면서 몇몇 
지하철 상ㆍ하행선 운행이 전면 중단됐습니다.

또한 강풍에 뽑힌 나뭇가지들과 쓰레기 잔해들이 도로를 가로막아 출근길 차량들이 대혼란에 
빠져 벗어날 길이 없었습니다.

- standstill: 정지상태
- blackout: 정전 / I blacked out last night. : 술 먹고 필름이 끊기다.
- no escaping: 벗어날 길이 없다.
- pandemonium : 대혼란
- debris : 잔해
