Obama defends Muslims' right to build mosques
오바마, 이슬람 사원 건축 지지 

U.S. President Barack Obama has waded into a political firestorm
by defending Muslims' right to build a mosque near ground zero in New York. 
After his words sparked widespread controversy, he clarified the statement,
saying he was just commenting on the basic freedoms
that the country is founded on, including the right to freedom of religion.

미 합중국 대통령 버락 오바마가 뉴욕 911그라운드제로 부근에
이슬람 사원을 건립하겠다는 무슬림의 권리를 지지하면서 정치적
쟁점의 대상이 되었습니다. 대대적인 논쟁이 일어나자, 오바마 대통령은
종교의 자유를 포함해, 미국의 건국이념인 기본권에 의거한
발언이었다는 말로 자신의 입장을 견지했습니다.

Rumors have been flying around that singer and actress                
Beyonce is pregnant, but that is not the case, said a representative.
Beyonce is married to rapper and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z,
and Internet news sources have been whispering about
the pitter-patter of little feet.
Beyonce has also let it be known that she would like to start thinking about kids             
when she turns 30 next year.

가수 겸 배우, 비욘세의 임신설이 한동안 떠돌았으나, 비욘세의 대리인에 의하면
사실무근임이 밝혀졌습니다. 래퍼이자, 힙합의 거물, 제이지의 부인인 비욘세를 놓고,
인터넷 뉴스를 통해 2세 탄생이 임박했다는 이야기가 떠돌았습니다.
정작 비욘세 본인은 아이를 가지는 계획은 서른 살이 되는 내년에 들어서야
생각할 것 같다고 말한 바 있습니다.

First 3D camera revealed
세계 최초 3D 카메라 등장

This week saw the launch of the world's first 3D camera and
printing service by Fujifilm. No special glasses are necessary
to take in the 3D image the camera captures. The camera
takes two photos simultaneously from its two lenses, and then
they're laced together to create the illusion of three dimensions. 

후지 필름에서 이번 주부터 세계 최초의 3D카메라와 출력서비스를 론칭합니다.
3D 이미지를 포착하기 위해 특수한 렌즈를 사용할 필요는 없습니다.
카메라에 내장된 두 개의 렌즈로 동시에 두 장의 사진을 찍으면,
착시현상을 일으켜 3차원 이미지가 구현됩니다.

<Snow Queen #1.>

The Snow Queen seated Kay beside her in the sledge,
and as she wrapped the fur round him he felt as if he were sinking into a snow drift.
"Are you still cold," she asked, as she kissed him on the forehead.

눈의 여왕은 눈썰매 옆자리에 카이를 앉히고는 그에게 모피를 둘러 주었다.
그러자 카이는 눈 더미에 파묻힌 기분이 들었다.
“아직도 추운 게냐?” 눈의 여왕은 그렇게 묻더니, 카이의 이마에 입을 맞추었다.

 Rich: The kiss was colder than ice; it went quite through to his heart,
which was already almost a lump of ice; he felt as if he were going to die,
but he soon felt quite well; The Snow Queen kissed little Kay again,
and by this time he had forgotten little Gerda, his grandmother, and all at home.

여왕의 입맞춤은 얼음보다도 더 차가웠다. 그 냉기는 곧장 카이의 심장으로 뚫고 들어갔고,
심장은 이미 한 덩이의 얼음덩어리가 되어 버렸다. 카이는 곧 죽을 것같은 기분이 들었지만,
그 기분은 금세 나아졌다. 눈의 여왕이 카이에게 다시 한 번 입맞춤하자,
이번에 그는 소녀 게르다와 그의 할머니와, 고향 모두를 잊어버리게 되었다.

 "Now  you must have no more kisses," she said, "or I should kiss you to death."
Kay looked at her, and saw that she was so beautiful,
he could not imagine a more lovely and intelligent  face.

"자, 이제 더이상의 입맞춤은 없다. 내가 한 번 더 입을 맞추면 넌 죽게될 테니까,“
눈의 여왕이 말했다. 여왕을 본 카이는 여왕이 더없이 아름답다고 생각했고,
그보다 더 아름답고 이지적인 존재는 상상할 수 없게 되었다.

<Snow Queen #2.>

Little Gerda hastened on to the Snow Queen's castle.
The walls of the palace were formed of drifted snow,
and the windows and doors of the cutting winds.
There were more than a hundred rooms in it;
they were all lighted up by the vivid light of the aurora,
and they were so large and empty, so icy cold and glittering!

소녀 게르다는 서둘러 눈의 여왕의 성으로 갔다. 궁전의 벽은 바람을 따라 움직이는 눈으로,
창문과 문은 모두 살을 에는 것 같은 찬바람으로 만들어져 있었다.
궁전에는 수백 개가 넘는 방들이 있었는데, 방마다 선명한 색깔의 오로라로 빛을 발하고 있었다. 
너무나 크고 휑뎅그렁하고, 섬뜩하게 춥고 반짝거리는 방들이었다!

There were no amusements here. Empty, vast, and cold were the halls of the Snow Queen.
In the midst of its empty, endless hall of snow was a frozen lake,
and in the centre of this lake sat the Snow Queen.

이곳에 즐거움이란 존재하지 않았다. 스노우퀸 궁전의 홀들은 공허하고 광활하고 추웠다.
텅 비어있고, 끝도 없이 이어진 눈의 홀 한 가운데 얼어붙은 연못이 있었다.
그리고 이 연못의 한가운데에 눈의 여왕이 앉아 있었다.

<Snow Queen #3.>

"Kay, dear little Kay, I have found you at last!" Gerda exclaimed       
but Little Kay sat quite still, stiff and cold. He was quite blue with cold,
indeed almost black, but he did not feel it;
for the Snow Queen had kissed away the icy shiverings,
and his heart was already a lump of ice.
 
"카이, 우리 카이, 내가 마침내 널 찾아냈어!“ 게르다가 외쳤다.
그러나 소년 카이는 꼼짝도 않고, 뻣뻣하고 차갑게 앉아 있었다.
냉기로 인해 그의 몸은 새파랗게, 아니 거의 새까맣게 변색이 되었는데도,
정작 그 자신은 느끼지 못 했다. 눈의 여왕의 입맞춤이
그에게서 얼음서린 오한을 걷어내 버린 데다,
그의 심장은 이미 한 덩이의 얼음조각에 지나지 않았다. 

Then little Gerda wept hot tears, which fell on his breast,
and penetrated into his heart, and thawed the lump of ice,
and washed away the little piece of glass which had stuck there.          
Then he looked at her and recognized Gerda, and said, joyfully,

그러자 소녀 게르다는 뜨거운 눈물을 흘렸고,
눈물이 카이의 가슴에 떨어지더니, 그의 심장까지 파고 들어가, 얼음조각을 녹였다.
그리고 그의 가슴 속에 박혀있던 작은 유리조각까지 씻어냈다.
그제야 카이는 게르다를 알아보았고, 기쁜 어조로 말했다.

"Gerda, dear little Gerda, where have you been all this time,           
and where have I been?" He clung to Gerda, and she laughed and wept for joy.
"게르다, 나의 게르다, 여태까지 어디 있다 온 거야? 아니,
나야말로 지금껏 어디 있었던 거지?“ 카이가 게르다에게 살갑게 몸을 기대자,
게르다는 웃음을 터뜨리고, 기쁨에 흐느껴 울었다.
